      Oil Spill Eater II

      USP&E is pleased to recommend a product that restores the environment back to near-perfect condition in the event of an accidental spill of diesel fuel, oil fuel, or other type of hazardous waste or grease. OSE II has been used in clean ups in more than 40 countries and has distributors in 35 countries. All five branches of the United States military use OSE II. OSE II has been successfully used on U.S. navigable waters since 1989.

      Oil Spill Eater II (OSE II) is a unique biocatalytic system of preformed multi-enzyme liquid concentrate. When combined with fresh or salt water and oxygen, OSE II will cause crude oil and other organic substances to rapidly decompose, eventually biodegrading them to carbon dioxide and water.

      OSE II is not a bacteria (bug), fertilizer, or dispersant product. It is a biological enzyme that converts the waste into a natural food source for the enhanced native bacteria found in the environment. The end result of this process is CO2 and water.

      24 hours later, the only materials remaining on the water's surface were non-degradable materials, such as plastic and candy wrappers.

      OSE II is 100% biodegradable. This product has a five-year shelf life when stored at temperatures below 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Freezing does not harm OSE II; however, cold temperatures can slow its reaction rate somewhat. The product is completely stable and reactive in a pH environment of 3.5 to 11.7.

      OSE II contains no corrosive chemicals or metal trace elements, and will not damage electrical insulation or painted surfaces. No special protective clothing or safety equipment is required, as determined by OSHA - Anchorage, Alaska.

      OSE II assists in controlling unpleasant odors associated with hydrocarbons. OSE II will destroy - not mask - odors through a natural biodegradation process.

      How it works

      OSE II is mixed with water in a sprayer at a concentration ratio of 50:1. The mixture is then sprayed on the contaminate and allowed to sit for 20 to 30 minutes. OSE II immediately attacks any hydrocarbon present by solubilizing and emulsifying the oil. This is the first stage in the cleanup process by which the OSE II mixture attaches to the hydrocarbon and prevents it from adhering to other surfaces.

      After the OSE II mixture has begun lifting the oil from the surface needing cleaning, the worker uses a high pressure sprayer to blast the OSE II and oil from the surfaces.

      OSE II is delivered full strength. At the time of use, it is mixed with water containing native bacteria. Besides solubilizing and emulsifying the hydrocarbon, the OSE II promotes the growth of the native bacteria with a nutrient package that once consumed the bacteria then turn to the hydrocarbon as its primary food source.

      Case study: diesel fuel spill on roadway

      A fuel tank containing 50 gallons of diesel fuel was ruptured. Prior to the arrival of the fire department, the fuel contamination was spread by other vehicles tracking through the fuel. Some of the fuel had leaked into the storm drain. By the time the first fire truck arrived, the spill of slick diesel fuel covered an area of 20 feet by 100 feet.

      Fire fighters then covered the spill area with a power fog containing the OSE II and water mixture. The entire spill was sprayed in about five minutes and allowed to stand 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, the diesel fuel separated from the concrete as the mixture began solubilizing and emulsifying the fuel.

      Cleaned and ready for traffic. The spill is completely remediated once the water dries. The unsafe condition that existed with diesel fuel on the roadway was completely eliminated within 30 minutes.

      Case study: jet fuel spill

      8,000 gallons of jet fuel was spilled into the environment when a truck overturned. Instead of using OSE II, the fire crew used foam to prevent fire. Now the site has both Jet A fuel and foam to contend with.

      The fuel had spilled on the ground and flowed downhill into a concrete lined water retention pond. The cleanup needed to detoxify the fuel, which had soaked into the soil, along with the fuel that flowed into the adjacent holding pond and mixed with water.

      Once the OSE II was on site, it was mixed 50:1 with water to treat both the Jet A fuel and the foam. The mixture contained 300 gallons of OSE II and 8,000 gallons of water. A fire hose was used treat the affected areas. After 3 to 4 weeks the entire site was found to be below the acceptable contaminate level.
